What I would like -

Lose some weight, pack on some muscle, strength and stamina

Time I have per day -

1 hour at lunchtime (realistically 45 minutes as last 15 minutes is to get back to office and shower)
Training in the morning is not an option as I have a long commute into London
Training in the evening is also not an option as I like to get back home as quick as possible and spend time with my baby daughter:)

Equipment available -

Various free weights, 20kg barbell, EZ bar but no squat rack (so only frontal squats are an option), numerous running machines, bikes, step machines and punchbags

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is what I am after possible based on the details provided above? In 2012 I was a member of a flashy gym in Soho where they had loads of equipment. I was doing the 5x5 routine back then and was making some good gains (80kg squat, 70kg DL) but had to stop training because of some medical issues.

Medical issues are fixed now but I cannot afford the flashy gym so have joined a council run gym not far from Piccadilly circus. Decent enough as mentioned above with the only minus point being the absence of the squat rack.

I'm thinking this too but Mehdi is adamant that to do squats they have to be back squats. My line of thinking is that some form of free weight barbell squats are better than none.

Hi guys,

Sorry to revive this thread but just had a quick question. I'm in week three of SL5x5. I missed a workout on Monday which I then did on Tuesday. I want to do my 3 workouts for the week but have not access to a gym over the weekend.

Is it ok for me to say have a 5x5 workout on Tuesday and then another 5x5 workout the next day? The final workout of the week then being this Friday.

Is a consecutive workout discouraged in this routine?

Thank you gentlemen. It will hopefully just be a one off. Seeing some improvement in strength and overall fitness. Also seem to be losing some weight doing it which is a great bonus :)
