Spec me a sci-fi series...

I think the well known ones have been mentioned in this thread - Babylon 5,Firefly,BSG and the various Star Trek series. I would say Farscape is worth a look too and remember they took the mickey out of it in SG1:

Claudia Black and Ben Browder were in Farscape.

They DID watch it, and my friends DIDN'T think it was great. Just because YOU think it's the best thing since sliced bread, doesn't make it so, and your opinion doesn't actually make much of a difference to me. I DIDN'T like it. That's my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I know 1/2 a dozen people without even having to think about it that DO agree with me.

As for Babylon 5, while there may have been elements of religion in it, it wasn't rammed down my throat the way BSG seemed to keep doing. That, and the plot line kept me interested through the entire series, something BSG failed dismally to do.

And finally, yes I do have a problem with religion. There's enough religion in the news on an almost daily basis that's an excuse for people killing each other. I don't need to see in in programs that are supposedly classed as 'entertainment'.

If the OP hasn't seen the show and wants to, that's up to him. He may like it, he may not. I just posted my opinion on the subject matter, which is all it was .... MY opinion.

TBH,I also known quite a few people who thought it was a good enough show to watch at time, but many others who were not massively enamoured with it either. Some watched it until the end, other just could not be bothered with it. There are people who might like Babylon 5 who hate Star Trek, there are those who like Star Wars who hate Babylon 5,etc.

Different series resonate differently with different people.

The problem is that fans cannot accept that,so this is why some people are so negative about you not liking it probably. You at least watched it seems.
