Spec me a Scooter

Watchdog did a review on directbikes, scooters.co.uk etc and turns out they're pretty poor. I'd advise something with a bigger name, Peugeot, Yamaha etc. Why not get a bike? More fun! ;)

I wouldn't get a scooter, if you plan to start motorcycling and eventually want to get a bigger bike, get a geared bike. A great example would be the Yamaha YBR 125.

I dont plan to get a Motorbike any time soon, only really need something to get me around town.

And Macky Thank you for telling me that, just watched the watchdog video..
Will be giving directbikes a miss.

Depends if you want automatic or geared... you can get 850cc scooters

Mine is only 500cc though and I love it to bits, just prefer a scooter because of storage space and not having to carry my helmet around.

So any way, I'd stay away from directbikes unless your willing to do lots of prep work on it and parts can be hard to get.

Go for a second hand SYM or Peugeot. Anything from the Piaggio group (Gilera, Vespa) can be good but are prone to electrical issues long term but great if your willing to do your own fetteling.

What license do you have?

And if you are planning on getting a motorbike at anytime, it can't hurt to have the experience on a geared bike.

As previously said, I'd always recommend a "big name brand" such as Yamaha / Honda / Peugeot / Suzuki / Kawasaki / SYM..
Reason for this is that there will be more parts readily available and more people that would have mechanical knowledge of them.
