Ok im moving back to the UK and i need a brand spanking new machine...Its gonna be in me living room so for appearances sake, i want a sexy little sff jobbie..

and ive fallen in love with the v300...

Ive been away for yonks and ive totally lost touch with everything hardware related..So i need some help from you guys..

I want a good setup that can play the latest games, and play them very well...If a larger gfx is specced im happy to modify the case to get it in..Its also gonna be running to my tv occasionally..

This machine wont be overclocked so dont worry too much about that side of things...

budget isnt really that much of an issue but its gotta be reasonable..

Thanks guys..

PS, i wasnt sure whether this went in here or in the main hardware section...hope i got the right one..

The v300 is indeed a very nice case.

The CPU of choice right now is the Intel Core 2 DUO. Superb performance at decent prices.

a Micro ATX motherboard is needed for the v300 and this is the problem if you want to go with a Core 2 DUO system. There are currently no decent Micro ATX motherboards available. Asus have one but its with a VIA chipset. Best thing to do is wait a couple of weeks until more motherboards are released from manufacturers based on the Intel chipset.

If you can't wait, the next best thing would be an AMD 64 X2 system.

Either way, I'd go for build like a V300 and M-ATX over a Shuttle.

Don't get me wrong, Shuttles are nice systems (I have one myself) but they are very expensive.

A Shuttle like the SN27P2 costs over £300. You could get:

V300 - £73
Seasonic S12 430W - £43
Micro ATX mobo - around £60

Thats £176 altogether for basically a barebones system like the Shuttle. Ok, so it doesn't include a heatsink like the Shuttle but you can always use the retail one provided with the CPU or buy an aftermarket one and still have loads of cash left over.

Its the Lian-Li PC-V300 if anyone was wondering. Nice little case too - the reviews I read highly recommend it. The only downside is that you will have to trim the long GFX card to fit it in.

Only place I noticed selling them is Overclockers.

And you will need to wait for a decent MATX conroe mobo it seems
