Spec me a SFF PC for £500

Hi,

My mate's after a new PC and wants to go SFF. His current setup is about 3 yrs old, AMD athlon based, so I'm guessing there's no point in carrying any parts across.

He'll be using it for pretty much everything, gaming, multimedia, work (big spreadsheets etc), internet etc. Budget is £500 and he already has a TFT (Dell 24" widescreen).

Basically he wants as top spec as possible for that budget.

for £500 I say he looking second hand kit...does he want to pci-e or is he happy with AGP??

2nd hand is fine.

AGP is fine.

In fact he has a half-decent AGP graphics card he can salvage - Aeolus 6800LE (this week only from about a year ago

).

I think he was toying with the idea of getting an SN95G, but was worried about the alleged compatibility issues between that Shuttle and the X2 processor

/EDIT tried to post to a SFF forum thread on said conflict but it was starred out. Guess they are classed as competitor

Right so we are after

Shuttle - SN95G - £190 new..V3 includes delivery.....
CPU - that will leave about £180 for a kick arse CPU

Ram...1GB - 2*512mB what £50
Hard Disk - Nice SATA £50
DVD-RW - £25
Graphics Card......already got if AGP

Might be and idea to spend less on the CPU..sell everything including the current Gfx card then spend what you have on well the best card you can get.
