My old faithfull Saitek Eclipse keyboard has decided to finally given up the ghost tonight :( However this means I get to buy a nice new shiny one! this is where you guys come in :)

I do more typing than gaming so the keyboard should be reliable and have a nice keystroke, having said that I still want a keyboard that has a bit of style about it, not some bland generic plastic fantastic...

I'm not too concerned about price, although obviously the cheaper the better.

Sidewinder X4 is my suggestion, currently out of stock here, usually around £40, a good gaming keyboard usually also makes a nice typing board.

+1....bought one the other day and its awesome. Keys are firm but silent, sort of like a laptop, but without the "clicky".

Yeah I've seen these they look quite nice without being overly garish, have you tried one out yourself Stulid?

I have had a X6 which was very nice to type on, the "feel" of the keys was brilliant, hopefully its the same.

I've also been looking at the X6 as OcUK at least have those in stock, mmm decisions...? I take it the numpad actually connects with the rest of the keyboard?

It does, can go either side.

The only reason I sold it is because of the keys I use to play games, sounds sad I know.

I use the arrow keys for movement and some surrounding keys for other stuff (right CTRL, right Shift, numpad 0,1,4) but because of the removable bit, the distance I had to stretch my fingers from the arrow keys to the numpad keys is to far without lifting fingers away from the arrow keys.

Apart from that the keyboard was mint.

This in a nut shell. Amazing keyboard for the money. Comfortable to use, good looking and well built. Another + is that it has backlit keys and macro buttons though i've not used either.

If you've got money to spend, check out Das Keyboard. That would last you for ages and it's mechanical.

If you don't have that much money, go for the sidewider x4 or x6

If price isn't an issue, once you go mechanical, you'll never go back :D

I personally have a SteelSeries 7G, however I recently tried a Razer Black Widow and that was really nice too.

Just changed from a Logitech G110 to a Qpad MK80.... very expensive but a FANTASTIC keyboard, so superior to the G110 it's unbelievable and as it uses cherry blue switches would be great for typing on as well....

I'm looking at the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth Edition.

Silent keys, as well as being mechanical? I didn't think that would work :p

Looks slick as well, and that razer logo which lights up? nice!

will be very expensive.... it uses cherry black keys...not noise or tactile feedback

i hear the black keys are not good for typing as the lack of tactile feedback puts people off.

got to through out a mention for a Razer Arctosa! but to be fair the x4 is easily as good and cheaper!

This is a very good keyboard though.

i has this one, its nice for typing and gaming aswell. leds can be turned on or off too which is a nice touch for daytime and nighttime. if i had the money to spend a bit more i think id of gone for a different one though, but for the £32 i got it its a nice board

I have a Filco with Blue switches (tactile, clicky), but Browns are also good, if you like your keyboards a little quieter. It was around £100, but I would never use anything else. It also doesn't have loads of lights, or a small delete key, which is a bonus for me.

Thanks for all the input guys :) After doing a bit of reading I think I might go for the Sidewinder X4, just a shame Overclockers haven't got any in stock :(
