I have some raw prawns that I need to use but I never really cook fish dishes specially prawns so is there anything you can suggest?

Preferable quick and along the lines of diet suitable.

I realise I used the word Shrimp in the title I am neither American or proud of this. I really don't see how I managed it.

Could make a simple stir fry and chuck the prawns in at the end . I just add whatever veg i have hanging around and include afew beansprouts - nothing too fancy. You dont want to overpower the dish with flavours - but rather let the vegetables and prawns speak for themselves. I add a little ginger and soy sauce/oyster sauce to give a subtle flavour

If however they are larger prawns there are probably more refined ways of cooking them! I dont have experience with much else living on a student budget :p

Gambas Pil Pil is nice.

Crush some garlic and finely chop a red chilli to taste I normally do at least two cloves of garlic and one red chilli. Leave seeds in if you want heat.

Spread chili and garlic over prawns, and drench in good quality olive oil. Leave to marinate for as long as you can.

When ready, transfer prawn mix to a pan and heat gently until cooked.

I serve it as a tapas dish alongside a few other nibbles like flatbreads etc...

If they are of a decent size then roasted with garlic butter is always delicious.

- remove shell and legs but leave tail on
- put prawns on back and butterfly and devein them (take care not to cut right through for presentation)
- place prawns in ovenproof dish (opened up)
- mash some garlic, parsley, lemon juice, butter and salt and pepper together
- spread generous amounts of the butter on the prawns
- place in 230C preheated oven for 5-7 minutes

The should come out nice and puffed up with lots of nice "sauce".
