I currently have a sn41g2 system that is knocking on 4 years old, and I feel it’s time for a change, I’m still using an amd 2500, I’m a little out of touch when it comes to graphics cards, duel core or core duo…. Or whatever is the latest!
If you had £500 what you go for (monitor/mouse/keybourd not needed) i do like the shuttles and would like to stay with them, but don't really have a clue to which one to get and what spec

your gona be hard pushed to get a shuttle for that cash. If your into gaming maybe going for a atx case would be better so you could get a better psu and gpu

heres what i have come up with if you can get a hard drive from your old system

but thats not going to be running all games on high even on a low rez :)

thanks dude, i like the looks of it, gonna hopefully make an order sometime later in the month. Not to worried about the games side. just need to get something with Vista on, not cos i like Vista but becuase i need to learn it for support :(

thanks again mate - i lost touch with the pc world!

samsung sata i'd go for

ditch that gfx card (and cpu) if you just want a learning box, use an e2140 cpu and a cheap low end fanless gfx card

maybe some think like this?

you could drop the price down by getting a lower end gfx card
and changing the hard driver for some think smaller. but stay with
WD or Samsung hard drives.

also remember to check if any gfx card you choice fits as there ain't much space
for some of the passive coolers.

also the psu might limit you to what gfx you can use as well.

so how much diff is there between the AMD and the intel performace wise.... sorry to ask these qestions... i'm so out of touch! :o

it all depends on the system really. its hard to say and the only way to know is
to bench 2 different systems that sort of match.

but i would just go with that you want to pay. any dual core cpu at 2.0gb + will
do what you need. be it AMD or Intel.

Intels c2d is the better cpu but at a price.

if the system you want is for a all round use ie media, net use, school or college work.
save your money and go with the Amd setup

in performance its around 20% to 30% better using Intels C2D, but im only guessing
