Hi guys, could you a spec me a sinlge graphics card, not interested in SLI/X fire.

Must:

a) be able to achieve high frame rates (60max-due to monitor) in games at 1920x1080 with MAX settings (e.g. BFBC2, BF3, MW3, dirt 3)...

b) be reference PCB design to allow fullcover block watercooling in the future...

c) be relatively "cheap" whilst fulfilling my first 2 needs.

I'm not worried about cooler noise during gaming ( whilst it's still on air ;) )

Also am i right in thinking that a higher end card with less RAM but faster clock speeds than a previous series card with more RAM will give superior performance?

e.g. a GTX570 1.2GB > GTX560 2GB?

i'm not very sure on this sort of thing and i get bewildered by the sheer number of variants of GPU's out there and conflicting opinions on review sites/forums...

hope you can help?

cheers

Well in that case at the upper end of your budget, you would be looking at AMD 6970 versus Nvidia 570. And towards the lower end of budget, it would be between the 6950 (2GB) and the 560ti (2GB).

Unfortunately can't help as regard to fitting waterblocks onto whatever individual card and their compatibilities as I have no experience of this. But good luck and I hope whichever card you plump for brings you good results.

I've not been with nVidia for a few years now - ever since the FX5800 Ultra which put me off as it was like a jet engine in my room - but both companies produce good cards and generally they both compete on a fairly level playing field as regards price/ performance.

Wow, just had a wee check on Google and it was 2003 I had the 5800 Ultra. Was a decent enough performer at the time but the noise was ridiculous. So have been a bit of an ATI (now AMD) fanboy since then. Although in reality I have no preference and I would happily buy nVidia again. As long as they are a bit quieter haha!
