Hey folks! I need a new slimline (45cm) dishwasher, as my current one (inherited with the flat) is old and grotty.

I've got a £400 voucher at the purple shirts place, so am ideally aiming to buy it there and not spend more than that. That said, everyone says that Bosch is the bee's knees, so if you're all very persuasive I may break my budget.

How are the cheaper brands? Hisense, Beko, etc? I've had a Hisense fridge in the past which was fine, and a Beko coffee machine which was also fine for the price. But I really don't want a dishwasher which breaks after 6 months, or which leaks everywhere.

I bought this about 18 months ago and it’s been perfect and does everything I need it to.
I previously had a Beko and it leaked internally just after the warranty ran out and wasn’t economical to repair.

Hisense are decent (we've got their top end washer & dryer), particularly with their 5yr warranty.

We had a slimline dishwasher from John Lewis in the past (iirc, rebadged Bosch), which lasted 6 years of daily use.

We went for Siemens which I believe is essentially the same as Bosch. Has lasted 3 years so far with no issues. Nice subtle floor light for when it's on, auto-opens when finished etc.

What I would recommend is getting one with a cutlery tray/drawer. Makes it way easier and gives more space (and stops your cutlery from getting scratched up). I believe Siemens and Bosch are the only ones that do that with their slimline models.

We went through a phase (I did) of checking out the cheaper brand etc etc due to believing that like many things, time improves them (Hankook and the like) but soon realised that sometimes no matter how many times you polish a turd, it is still a turd and now spend the little extra on well known and slightly more expensive brands.

No issues with cookworks tabletops, I have had a table top for about 4 years. Bought another but went for the XL one.

No issue with Beko washing machine, two of the premium models, quiet etc.

We have a Siemens one, came with the house. It’s probably about 20 years old now. Still working perfectly

We have a slimline bosch one at the moment. Hasn't skipped a beat the last few years.

It could be worth checking out IKEA. When I worked there, ok it was 15 years ago now, the appliances they sold were actually manufactured by Whirlpool and a few by Bosch and it was cheaper than buying a whirlpool or bosch branded appliance. Think they had 5 year warranty as standard then too.

Thanks everyone! Ended up going with the Hisense - Currys selection was fairly limited (and I was trying to blow a £400 gift card there wisely rather than on preordering a Switch 2!). I couldn't bring myself to spend the extra £200 on the Bosch, and they don't stock Siemens. At the lower end the better options were Hisense or Hoover, which both get ok reviews on Which. I went with the Hisense as it had a free 5 year warranty and cutlery tray, which the Hoover did not.

Not planning to be in this flat for more than 2-3 more years and I don't generally take white goods with me when I move, so hopefully it'll do the job.

Not surprising on the limited selection, I think slimlines tend to be more of a niche market so manufacturers only make a couple of models.
