Right a mate of mine has always been buying laptops because they are quiet and small. He uses it form mainly encoding DVD's running VMS's etc. Requirements are as follows

Quiet
Small
Powerful as possible CPU and Disk speed. (SSD + some storage disks (possibly raid 0 on storage)
Good graphics card but nothing OP required.

Disk space requirements are 500gb +
Blue ray drive.
6gb memory +.

Quiet and small being the most important 1800 budget with 22" monitor and keyboard and mouse required.

:)

Here you go, could get mini P180 but not listed at present, the full size P183 is only midi tower though so still reasonably small, all very quiet and efficient
Total is on right as wouldnt all fit on screen, lol

no, gfx card is one of quietest, if you want to go whole hog wait for the vapor x version, but this is very good card in that respect anyway, vapor x on pre-order atm
Corsair PSUs are very good in all respects, noise included, and you shouldnt be getting any where near its max load so thats good
I only included 4 gig of RAM as I dont know if youll need more? If youre doing lots of editing large photos or the like drop in 2 sets for 8 gig, otherwise 4 should be plenty

The i7 shuttle?

Not sure a gaming keyboard makes sense given the intended use, but otherwise 95 is as difficult to fault as ever.

That sort of money you want to go i7. the i5 750 only has 4 threads which drastically affects encoding speed.

Leaves enough for the antec p180 mini case at around £60-70

I actually completely missed the intended use, lol, yeah swap for i7 build, either 8 series in this set up or 9 series with appropriate board and RAM as acid has included
