I have a dell studio xps 8100, not really that good a system but not old enough to totally change. I want to change psu and graphics card to nvidia instead of ati.

Also very keen to change the case to the NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case from ocuk.

Would I be able to swap the motherboard, etc.

I will get a new psu and graphics cards but keen to know if everything else would trasnfer over ok? I currently have a core i7 cpu can that be transfered has well?

tell us more about everything you have in the dell...and all the stuff you have which you could use for upgrade (so youve already mentioned the i7..anything else?)

Yeah of course well the psu is only 350watt useless by todays standards and i want a suitable upgrade to match the case i mentioned.

The graphics cards is ati radeon 5700 which I want to upgrade to gtx 460.

The cpu is Intel Core i7 Processor 860 (2.80GHz, 8MB)

I currently have 2tb hard drive. 8192MB (4x2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Memory, and a bluray drive.

I plan to add at least another 4tb of hard drive space ideally in radio 0.

Yes you'll be able to swap the motherboard to the new case.
So you want a new GPU,PSU and case?

Ok so heres what you could get for 370 quid.

Gigabyte GTX460

Antec TP 650W.This will easily handle 2xGTX460.

And the case which you chose.

However before upgrading to the GTX460 you should keep in mind that the new HD6xxx mainstream models will be out this month.

You might have to check the case format with that Dell, over the years Dell has been known to use the BTX standard rather then then the ATX standard so chaning the case might not that simple.

It might just be easier to swap motherboard any suggestions on a board that would fit the case I chose, plus the gpu and cpu plus memory?
