spec me a software inventory management software

hi guys

i need a inventory management software to track 500+ PC's for software, must be freeware/open source.

if possible do 'live' tracking everytime the machine is booting up would be even better.

had a play with spiceworks, i like it but scan sometimes doesnt pick PC's at all. is there any agent client inventory software?

OCS-NG is bloody good, very very easy but one very little problem, let say if i need to find machines that still running IE7, i need to see the machines that got IE7 listing then i'll know which machines needs to be updating to IE8, make sense?

at the moment, i have to click/open EACH machine to see what software/verison it's running which is very annoying.

for example -

if i click all computers icon, it would give me the list of machines that got agent installed.

now....if i click all software icon, it would give me all software installed on all machines.

as you can see, if i click mozilla firefox, it wont tell me WHICH machines is that one. make sense?
