Spec me a soundcard

My onboard sound has just started crackling and so im gonna look out for a new soundcard. Want one that is 100% compatible with Vista x64 with decent drivers and cheap as possible.

It depends on what you use your system for, games? Music and films?

Now that Creative have finally (it appears) sorted out driver issues with Vista x64 + 4GB RAM etc those cards aren't too bad.

Would anyone recommend the "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Sound Card - OEM (PCI-Express)" ? As it's in this week only as well...Not forgetting it runs on the x4 slot or x2, cant remember off the top of my head...

Would it be worth it?
