Spec me a stealth game

I want to buy a stealth game but don't really know any good ones. I found myself playing Crysis using stealth, Oblivion I played as a sort of assassin/thief character and I really enjoyed the first metal gear solid on the Playstation 1

. I was considering the Splinter Cell games but don't really know which one to go for.

Any help much appreciated

The latest Hitman is quite cool, but I'm awful at being stealthy.

Get the original Deus Ex, it's available on Steam I believe. Best of both Worlds, you can complete the game both ways, stealthy and and just running in with "all guns blazing".

Thief: Deadly Shadows
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Hitman: Blood Money
Prisoner of War (quite old now)
Deus Ex (quite old now)

i liked hitman 2 and prisoner of war. and try the first splinter cell game if you can find it.

The Splinter Cell series by far. Start at the beginning and work your way through the whole lot!

Tenchu series is superb, but i have to say on of my favourites although extremely gory is Manhunt

Thanks for the replys. I went and bought Thief 1 & 2 as it only cost me £5 from amazon

I'll probably buy Deadly Shadows on Steam eventually, and I'll have a look at the titles you guys suggested

all the hitman games expect one (cant remember what its called but it wasnt very good at all) and i know the first one is a bit cheesy "can i go to the bathroom ?" but
still its good. hitman 2 my fav. blood money was okay but a little short from what i remember.

I really can't deal with stealth games... the whole sitting on the edge of your seat, hoping to not get caught, then getting extra-super-frustrated when you do, is too much for me to cope with! I prefer to run in guns'a'blazin and shoot everything

I like games where it's edge of your seat trying not to get caught the, run out guns a blazing when you do

But most stealth games just have you die or fail mission when that happens
