Spec me a stubble trimmer

your keyboard is going to be full of even more grot by the looks of things ;)

These adjustable length things don't really work very well in my experience either. they would work perfectly fine if your hair stuck out at a tangent to your face but it doesn't in most instances. It comes out generally all facing down on your cheeks until it gets to a point under your chin and sort of "flattens out". Because of this most length adjusters don't pick up the hair properly for the cutting blades and they just seem to miss so much of it and you have this slightly patchy shave.

In the end i just use the long hair trimmer on its own, without any adjustable length thing on it. If anybody has a model where they find this isn't the case then let me know

Same for me. I think the answer is a proper metal length adjuster like you get on something like a Nicky Clarke hair trimmer, only with a lever that clicks into set positions rather than analogue control

All the ones with adjustable plastic guards that I've tried have been pretty poor (Babyliss, Remington, Philishave)

I have an I-Trimmer and while it does a good enough job at shaving i confirm after a couple of months the battery in it completely died to the point where i have to leave it on the plug for 5 minutes before shaving just so it will turn on (while still plugged in).

As it has a standard plug and not a shaver plug its a bit of a pain

As people have said the actual length of the stubble is very random depending on how well your hair stands to attention and the actual lengths are meaningless

I've had a Remington MB320C for a few years now and the battery dies after one shave. For £20 I might just get a new one unless there is a better alternative?

Normally I use a Merkur but sometimes I just can't be bothered and the Merkur wouldn't work too well downstairs if you get my drift.;)

No plugs downstairs?
