Wanting to get a subwoofer for my setup to make it 5.1, main use will be watching films I will be connecting it to my Pioneer vsx-920.

Was thinking of spending around the £150 mark.

I have been looking at the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO S90, only because it looks good and is £149.99! :p

I know nothing about subs any help will be good!

Cheers

You could post the question over on AVForums, in the sub section ..... but i know they'll recommend a BK sub :P ..... the closest to your budget is the BK gemini II at £215 ..... worth every penny if you can stretch to that, if not ..... perhaps they can point you towards the next best thing.

The room is 10'5 x 14'7 does that make any difference?

Cheers I will look at the reviews.

It can do if the sub doesn't have enough grunt to fill the space its given, but that size room should be fine, more so as its what I assume to be your first proper sub I would highly. recommend the sw150 unless you can stretch your budget and get a bk gemini or bk xls200. Apart from those i think the wharfedale is probably your best bet

See if you can pick up a Rel Q100E used for the money. Its one of the best subs rel sold

Its a bit ugly but is a well made (made by BK) and well designed 100w 12" sealed box sub.
I have owned the Q150e - its very small but struggles to do a full bass spectrum, its designed to just do part of it to compliment a full range speaker system - so dont buy that one.
You will find the gemini likely a very good sub also- I would buy BK if buying new as they are pukka subs would have a look at reviews of the Q100E as well.
