Hey guys, ive got quite a few interviews at the moment for IT companies, can anybody spec me a suit, i only have about £60 - 80 to spend so not a lot, not a pinstripe or anything fancy, just a nice suit that will suffice till i get some more money to purchase another, already got shoes and ties etc, just need a suit jacket with pants. Cheers guys :D

1. walk into burton
2. find suit
3. try on
4. Complete 2/3 as necessary
5. purchase

(Not being sarcy, I got myself a decent enough suit from Burton for a cheap £60 in Jan)

Suits Direct probably for that kind of money, had a quick look on their webpage and they do 10% off as well if you sign up for emails. Their suits start from £69 so fit in your budget.

Not sure they will be nice though....

If you've got a Slaters store near by they'll have something for you and their customer service and free alterations for the life of the suit is brilliant.

You need to get out the house and go and try some on.

There is no point trying to buy online, as with suits you likely need to try on a few different ones or sizes. You aren't going to make a good impression if you turn up to an interview in a poor fitting suit.

Buy a suit from M&S and have a local tailor alter it to suit you. I have a few suits that always draw compliments and I've never paid more than £150 all in.

Bit off topic, but am I the only one who finds suits especially shirts incredibly uncomfortable? It's the shirts I hate, the collars and stiff itchy material, or am I just wearing really cheap ones?

I usually buy expensive suits, either Boss, Armani or of that ilk and I get them finished / tailored.

I bought an M&S "Performance" suit a couple of months back as my black suit was a bit worn out and I was going to close relatives funeral.

It's a really nice suit. Totally recommend them. It was the only suit in the shop that fitted though and as usual it was by far the most expensive :(

In the £60 - £80 range you are seriously going to struggle.

M&S are usually a safe bet under £200, but unless you have an Outlet store with suits in your size I think you will struggle in your original budget.

I'd say invest £230 in a slightly better quality Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin effort to be honest. I know it's a lot more money but it's absolutely worth it.

I don't mind the suit but yes I hate wearing a shirt buttoned up the neck and wearing a tie, seems uncomfortable although not itchy as you state.

Slaters may have a suit for around £80 but not too sure, last time I was in there the suit I bought was £200

You're wearing cheap and/or badly made ones. You shouldn't even be aware that you're wearing your shirt. A good shirt will be made from good quality fabrics and cut appropriately.

Are you sure you're wearing the correct collar size?

OP, I have no idea. I didn't even realise you could buy a suit for 60 quid.
