A few years ago, I got rid of my suitcase as it weighed 6.5kg empty. Not bothered replacing it and foreign holidays since, I took one one my parents’ Samsonite ones.

Next year, we are all going on holiday abroad together, so I need a suitcase of my own.

Samsonite are still selling the same suitcases as my parents use. https://www.goplaces.co.uk/products...wheel-spinner-suitcase?variant=39586760753232

Should I stick to the same suitcase or go for something different?

My requirements are:
. Hard case
. No zip to main compartment
. Spinner wheels
. Combination lock
. Budget £300 (my parents will buy this for me)
. Weighs 4.5kg or less
. Similar size to one in above link.

Not fussed what colour it is, not white or yellow.

£189 for a suitcase!
Seen £5k for one.

With suitcases, you get what you pay. Friend bought a £24 one from B&M and zip broke and lining of outer pocket fell to bits.

This suitcase is to last. My parents’ previous Samsonites lasted 20 years. Survived 4 hours of hail when driving to St Malo to get ferry home (suitcases on roof rack) Upgraded to spinners.

I use hold luggage as those travel sized toiletries aren’t enough for two showers a day. Plus sun tan lotion is very expensive abroad. Got Aldi’s sun tan lotion for about £4.25. Saw the same one in Aldi Valencia and it was €11.79 - almost 3 times more expensive.

You may say get the toiletries past security. Run the risk of not having enough time if security is bloody slow and long. Or like me have to use certain brands due to allergies. May not have them in Boots, Superdrug past security

anytime I went with EJ they were always late at check in so a mad rush to get everyone boarded and didn't really care.
I guess it depends what route you fly on, personally I always took a 30l backpack which held enough clothes for like 3 days + 5 days underwear. also fits under the seat.

Used to love it when the plane got diverted from Geneva > Zurich saved me about an hour on the train :D

Had absolute karens raging that I'm selfish for wanting to get off and I'm holding all the passengers up.... too stupid to understand it takes 10seconds for me to get off an about 30mins for the plane to refuel....
Yeah, but cabin bags save you waiting at The Carousel Of Desperation!

Yep, and I've seen people get pulled by ryanair and easyjet on those, told they have to go in the hold and get charged an additional fee for that, so no thanks.

Some old lady was bitterly arguing with easyjet cabin crew on Tuesday night as I got on my flight at Madrid about exactly this.
Anyone who thinks that they have rights to put bags bigger than the airline specified dimensions should be banned from flying as these are the idiots who miss the slot for taking off.

My favourite luggage experience was seeing a suitcase come out on the Carousel that had literally been ripped into pieces.

The owner was not happy and had a go at a baggage handler, who asked her "was it like that when you checked it in?"

To say she went bonkers is an understatement.
Saw on a luggage carousel a floorboard with 5-6 supermarket bags for life taped onto floorboard by handles then contents in the bags for life were in bags tied up.

Firstly how did the check in staff accept this and secondly, how did it survive being handled/thrown by baggage handlers. Never saw the owner.
