My TV only has 2xHDMI inputs, im after an autochange switch (Prefereably one that DOESNT need an external power supply) so I can plug my PS3 and DVD player into the port. I have just gotten Sky HD. Failing that, Does component allow you to transmit the Blu-Ray in High Def? (1080i).

Not sure I can recommend a passive HDMI switch, especially an autoswitching one. Is there a specific reason for needing passive before I post options? The maximum GENERAL resolution supported by component is 1080i, but some obscure kit can actually run 1080p through it, personally I wouldn't want to to see the results compared against 1080p digital!

AFAIK autoswitching requires a power source, which isn't provided on the HDMI cable.
The closest you will get is the Joytech one, which can be powered from a USB port (PS3 or Sky box).
The only problem is I have heard problems with the Joytech switch and SkyHD box (HDMI not syncing correctly).

I use both the CMI HDMI 2 port splitter from a Sky HD source and the CMI HDMI-CAT5 baluns. Great for the money, work perfectly. I also bought them from the above site. The owner is very friendly and the kit is good :).

Yes it is active, but it is pretty compact. Feel free to contact the guy :). There are other options of course but I am going on my current experience with CMI kit :).

I prefered passive as Ive ran out of plug sockets anyway. But if they dont exist, then nvm. It will have to be active. The one you found looks fine to me Mr Footlong. About the right price. Dont want to be paying anymore tbh.
I was mainly wondering about the HDCP and if it would give the same quality using Component as opposed to HDMI from the PS3. It will be cheaper to buy a component cable.

While component is great, at 1080i or higher I would always take a digital signal over an anologue one myself . Saying that, the HD box for example, outputs a very good component HD image. You should find that you have no HDCP issues with that switch, but feel free to contact Garry and ask him, he is a very helpful chap and honest in my experience :)

Thanks badbob, but Too expensive and with features I dont need at all. I want it to be automatic. (The GF gets easily confused . . . . :D).

The £19.99 one it is then!

If you have a learning remote with macro function it will be automatic, as the input switching will be done by the universal remote.
