£239.99

Nothing wrong with the BFg Mobo and the HDD is a DESKSTAR not even comparible to the old Deathstar drives by IBM. The current Deskstars are one of the most reliable on the market.

I will put together another spec but it would've been handy to have the other info first!

Hey monster munch, i was just wondering if value ram is any good? Just i have seen a few of your spec for peeps and i think (sorry if im wrong) but you often suggest value ram, i always though it was best to get a premium line. Obviously you know what you on about, im not questioning you lol, just you could save me a fair bit of money down the line if there is little need for me to buy the more expensive stuff :D

Which type of Ram you use greatly depends upon your budget and what you plan on doing with the PC. Value ram is very good and about the best you'll find for the money.

There are performance increases to be had with premium ram although the more money you spend the increases in performance to not correspond with the extra cash. For example the Mushkin Redline is about the best ram for an AMD system but a 2gb kit will cost you £235, but it is NOT twice as good as the Geil Value.

Do not be put off by the name, the Geil Value is actually a good performing ram kit. If you would like to increase the quality of the ram I would suggest looking at something like the OCZ PC3200 Platinum Kit which is about £40 more than the geil.

Whether or not you gain the extra £40 worth of performance is a matter of opinion and can greatly depend on whether or not you plan on overclocking the CPU.

Put it this way....Spending £40 more on ram will have no where near the same effect as putting the extra £40 towards a better CPU or Gfx card.....which IMO is a common misconception.
