It's time to upgrade my CPU, which means money. Sad face. Currently have an 8700k, 32Gb Ram.

I need a CPU, Mobo and at least 32gb RAM. Possibly a waterblock for the CPU9 Though i could continue to use my ancient (20 year old?) Swiftech Apogee? Budget is under £500, cheaper the better! I could stretch to a CPU upgrade in future, so future-proofing the mobo (AM5?) and ram is important.

Already have a 6950xt, hard drives, 1200w psu, so I'm happy with that.

My main use is playing games, and don't use it for anything productive. Games are mainly civ type, with the occasional FPS.

9600x £180
32gb DDR5 6000mhz £100

£220 left

Theres so many options on motherboards cheaper the better means compromise like number of m2 slots , b850 would be my choice .

probably not unless there are AM4/AM5 fittings for the block. with that in mind...

yes it's overbudget, but this is an X3D chip, which is a major bonus for gaming, and will probably see you through for quite a while yet

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £557.92 (includes delivery: £7.99)

If you're planning an upgrade shortly (e.g. to a 10800X3D), you can get a 7400 (has graphics, but only 16MB of cache instead of 32), 7400F or 7500F pretty cheap, around ~£120, which would leave you plenty for the board and RAM.
