Hello!

Spec me a decent system for £700 please, needs to be including everything like case, OS, etc. Already have speakers, peripherals and monitor. Will be used for games, music and a bit of amateur design mostly.

Many thanks,

John

I'm aiming to build a system around the same budget as you... this is what i've come up with so far... You'll need to add in windows home edition if you don't have that.

Should be a good performer and have quite a bit of overclocking potential.

Steve.

the above is good,

i would consider 2gb of g-skill 6400hz though and a scythe ninja if you can

2gb will be good for games plus design work. plus its a better clocking ram.

heat sink will be better than stock and also keeps ya temps under control

6400 are good clocking chips, i got an oem from ocuk and its running at 3.35ghz at the moment. Nice and fast

otherwise a good spec.

Yeah, i thought people would suggest 2gb of ram. It is a good idea, but personally i can't justify paying double the money for slightly faster loading times. I'll be on quite a tight budget when i order my rig :)

you shouldn't get G.skillz and a DS3 motherboard but i do think you should be looking to get 2 gig of Geil or Crosair ram. I suspect Vista will need it to run well and play games on.
