Spec me a decent system for £700 please, needs to be including everything like case, OS, etc. Already have speakers, peripherals and monitor. Will be used for games, music and a bit of amateur design mostly.

Yeah, i thought people would suggest 2gb of ram. It is a good idea, but personally i can't justify paying double the money for slightly faster loading times. I'll be on quite a tight budget when i order my rig
you shouldn't get G.skillz and a DS3 motherboard but i do think you should be looking to get 2 gig of Geil or Crosair ram. I suspect Vista will need it to run well and play games on.
