Spec me a System

Browsing through the posts on this forum has left me in limbo-land. I appreciate that the 939 motherboards are now dead in the water, along with the AMD Opterons etc. On top of this DDR memory is also virtually kaput. I think I am correct in my assumption that PCIE graphic cards are still OK (correct me if I am wrong) So begs the question what to go for next and maybe more importantly when. One item that is missing from this forum is all the posts we used to get, "Spec me a System" etc

Not sure what to spend, initially I was only going to upgrade my CPU and graphics card. But now it looks like a new system is needed, e.g. Mobo, CPU, DDR2, not to mention graphis cards.
