Hi,

It's been a while since I built a system and I've got the itch to get back into it. It's primarily going to be used for graphics design/gaming/movies. I'm not wanting to spend big £££ so my budget is £800. I need a full system, this includes monitor too. I'd like something I can overclock and a Intel CPU, I would also like something that allows me to upgrade over time.

Can you guys help?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, that looks pretty good. Isn't the i5 3750 ivybridge better then the i5 2500 sandy bridge?

I have an OS, Windows 7 that I can reuse, keyboard/mouse too. I need a Monitor as I sold mine last year since I moved to a laptop.

Nice specs guys, will have to investigate further. I want to ask, in terms of processing power, what are the AMD FX chips like? They're reasonably priced and have 8core technology?

Sorry for the n00bish questions, been a long while since I had a PC. SKT754 being my last one. :o

Ask away mate , were here to help. :)
I would personalty go with Intel myself, they just seem to be better over all.

In terms of gaming/rendering videos/images how much of a gap is their between the AMD/Intel CPU's? I'm not after e-peen performance where it'll be overkill for anything I do. Yet I do want the upgradeability so I can change components in the long run.

I'd like a Monitor with HDMI. Is there anything I can improve on or could be had for cheaper. I want a nVidia graphics card instead of ATi, I quite like the reviews of the one I've chosen. I will be overclocking so is there a better motherboard out there, better than the one I've chosen?

Any advice appreciated.

How much difference is there between the i7 3770k and the i5 I have chosen?

Is hyperthreading really needed?

Really appreciate the responses Stulid. I want to purchase a system where I won't need to upgrade at it for a while. I'm not an intense user, usual browsing, light gaming on a Mac, photoshop etc.

Then again I'm unsure as whether I really need to spend the extra money or not as like I said I'd like something that will last me at least 3 years and in that time my use of a machine may change.
