As Christmas approaches I have thought about getting my parents a little tablet pc. They are in their sixties but ok enough using the pc. But when one wants to use it to check the net the other is usually playing a game like mahjong etc. The concept of alt-tab is beyond them.

So I think a little tablet so one can check the net, whilst the other can sit at the pc playing games etc will save a few moans from both of them. I currently do have the new Ipad and I do like it. I have thought about the Apple route for things like i-message or facetime. But the cost of Apple's stuff is a factor. I don't fancy the idea of the mini-ipad or anyother 7 inch as I think they are to small.

My dad does have a old Android phone I gave him, which still seems beyond him. But then again he is used to the Android UI, but IOS is very easy for people to use also. I'm looking at a price between £250=£400. Storage size wont be a issue as its main use I expect will be as a web brower.

I'd definately recommend the Nexus 7. Just snapped two up for my girlfriend and I and we've never put them down. Great build quality and performance.

Seriously just get an iPad, it's worth the extra cost. £359 gets you a refurbished iPad straight from Apple with a retina display, which is definitely worth it over the iPad 2.
