Ive been looking around since christmas for a tab that suits my needs,a lot of them seem to be really good in one department but a let down in others so i keep holding off buying one till i find one that suits

Ive not got a budget in mind yet,but im looking at a "best bang for buck" deal if possible,im not overly bothered about screen size aslong as websites scale ok

It will be primarily used for web browsing and must support flash sites

must have hdmi out to play film files to a tv (avi & mkv)

must play films & music direct from a usb flashdrive or usb hdd

must be able to transfer films/music from pc directly onto internal storage

must have expandable internal storage

must have good internal sound hardware for plugging it into a speaker dock or standalone speakers for listening to tunes :D

must be able to access android market from stock if its using android OS

ive never rooted or flashed before so being able to do all this from the stock OS would be a huge advantage

thanks :)

xoom does tick a lot of the right box's, does it support flash now with its updates ? i read a while back that flash wasnt supported out of the box

Good stuff thanks, looks like im almost convinced on the xoom looking at the reviews and specs of it :)

Have a look at the original Asus transformer. I'm sure i saw something which allowed playback of files from a USB drive a while back

does any one know if the xoom will play files direct from a USB drive ?

never tried as the 32gb internal plus 32gb micro SD card have served me well thus far for when I wanna hook my xoom upto the tv via HDMI to be honest...

thanks alty,i guess its just as easy/quick to transfer files from a pc to a xoom than it is to a usb drive ?

I did look at the playbook as ive read its very good with the new updates but i think a xoom will fit my needs more

Archos 101 G9? You can get it with a 250Gb HDD if you need plenty of internal storage
It has a full-size USB port you can plug low-power external HDDs/USB sticks into
Good battery life - I've got the 16GB version, get about 10-11 hours general surfing, music playback, video playback

On the budget end of the spectrum, I have an Ainol Aurora on it's way to me in a week or two, looks to be the best of the cheapo Android tablets. Not without its issues, but then show me a sub-£200 tablet that has none.

All about the screen for me, as it will primarily be for videos and comics whilst commuting.

Ive read a few bads things about archos tabs a while back so i ruled them out,i did have my eye on the aurora, but no market access from stock and the feeling that it will be cheap and tacky has put me off tbh and dont even get me started on the name :D

All valid concerns. I have no problem with faffing with scripts and rooting and the like, and as it will be for a specific and limited set of uses, not that fussed about it being cheap feeling or tacky. As long as my videos and comics look good I will be happy. :)

just been looking at the cnet reviews on the archos G9,while it does looks like a decent multimedia player the fact that the case is all plastic has really put me off,and the user reviews only give one and a half stars out of 5

while the xoom review is a little better they reckon its too heavy and the screen and speakers are of slight concern, the screen being quite refective and the speakers facing backwards ? why would they face the speakers backwards ?

What about the Asus EEEPad Transformer that gets decent reviews and isn't over priced and has a nice LED-backlit IPS LCD so 178x178 viewing angles and from what I can see the ICS update is being rolled out or may be out now.

Well my ARCHOS has just updated itself to ICS so will have to see how it performs now

It certainly doesn't feel like it is cheap and plasticy

I guess id just have to get down to a shop and have a grope of it myself :D

the asus looks pretty good too ,damn soooo many choices :(

I've not regretted buying my Xoom as it's Awesome in use, I'm posting this with it. ;)
