thanks alty,i guess its just as easy/quick to transfer files from a pc to a xoom than it is to a usb drive ?

your PC sees your Xoom as an external USB device and you simply drag n drop much like an external USB drive. Your micro SD is integrated as a seperate folder within the device so you can choose where to store your files. I tend to stick all media on the Micro SD n keep the internal for apps and important stuff.

I would suggest you get a decent card tho like a class 10 to increase the transfer rate unless you intend to use the internal memory.

Also fyi, Motorola have confirmed a Q2 release of ICS for European XOOMs which is great news!

What about the Asus EEEPad Transformer that gets decent reviews and isn't over priced and has a nice LED-backlit IPS LCD so 178x178 viewing angles and from what I can see the ICS update is being rolled out or may be out now.

ICS is already out and works very well on it :)

My only complaint about mine (and i think its valid for all IPS screens) is that its absolutely dire in the sun. I bought mine for a holiday to Spain and it was next to useless!

I picked one up myself very happy with it and updated to ics and its very fast and smooth , prefer this to the xoom which i have been using for a few weeks my mates.

the reasons the IPS screen on the OG Transformer (and many tablets) is bad in the sun is because it has a (relatively) huge air gap between the glass and lcd panel - it make the screen highly reflective. The Asus Prime has a much much smaller air gap making it much better in the sun.

Add to that the OG Transformer has a max brightness of about 400 cd/m2 whereas the prime goes all the way upto 650 cd/m2 - much brighter.

My reccomendation to the OP is a galaxy tab7.7 - can be had as cheap at £340 and does everything the op wants - even 1080p mkv playback and sd slot etc.

dual-core 1.4GHz processor
7.7-inch (1280 x 800) Super AMOLED Plus display
Honeycomb 3.2/TouchWiz
335 gram
7.89 millimeters thin
16GB to 64GB of internal storage
microSD card slot
5100mAh battery rated for 10 hours (achieved over 11 in testing)

The Samsung suggested doesn't have HDMI connection does it tho? (To watch on HDTVs). That was why I went for the XOOM over the Sammy even tho it had the nicer screen.

It has MHL which is the same thing. Don't get the 7.7 mixed up with the lesser tab 10.1 and 8.9 - the 7.7 has a Exynos chipset, not the basic Tegra 2 hardware.

thanks for that, ive bought a xoom now tho,it was my prefered choice so ive gone ahead and bought one :)
