Hi there, I need to invest in a torque wrench for working on my car, but I know the quality is important so i don't want to but something useless that will break, or not be accurate.

I found this one, not sure if its decent though.

Got about £40 to spend maybe more if required.

So, what do you think guys, any recomendations?

Thanks, tom.

Only does 30-160foot pounds

You want one that does from about 10-15 onwards, since a lot of bolts for regular maintenance are only torqued from 20-30 (sump/gearbox/diff plugs etc)

right ok, I'm putting my gearbox back on in the next few days, just looked in the haynes manual and the lowest one I need to do is 15 foot pounds.

Any idea on what brands to go for and which to avoid?

Thanks, tom.

Your not likely to get a 1/2" wrench that torques up that low.

I have the above wrench, have had it maybe 2 years now and its been excellent for the time ive had it.

I also have the smaller 3/8" Teng one which covers 19nm+ which was around £50 also.

I have a 3/8 one personally, since the drain bolt of the S2000 gearbox is a 3/8 drive it was a no brainer for me :P

30ft.lb-whatever is too high for most regular maintenance, most stuff on the S2000 is between the 20-30 range.

This one looks good and is the right torque range for mine. Is it sad that i'm excited about getting it. I've never had my own torque wrench before. :p

Cheers guys.

You do have 3/8th sockets to suit this one I take it?

If its the same as mine its not that long, so you have to put more leverage into it for the higher settings (~75nm+) and I prefer to use my 1/2" torque wrench to do this, but its perfectly fine for lower torque figures.

Yeh i've got 3/8 drive sockets as well, it should be ok as most of the torque settings are only about 25- 50. If I get really stuck, I can always grab the 1/2 drive one as well later on.
