Just ordered up the Canon 600d and can't wait to get using this amazing piece of kit. I need a tripod to accompany it and will spend no more than £100. Will be mostly be using to take pictures and filming an upcoming band. Cheers! :)

Other than the band stuff what type of photography will you be doing?

Regarding the band filmimg would you not be better off with a Steadycam/Glidearm type device?

I'm also looking for a new tripod in the sub 100 price range if you don't mind me thread-jacking a bit. I do mainly floral macro work as well as wide angle indoor and landscape too. No portrait work as of yet, but full height would be nice if I did. Mainly, stability is my priority as my current tripod seems to be made of balsa wood :p

No problem ;)

That sounds like a good idea. Is there something that I can use for portrait photography and portability+image stablisation when filming :) cheers!

Hi,

I am just getting into photography and needed a tripod. After much looking around I purchased the Giottos MTL9351B with the MH5011 head, I got it for just under £100 and so far cannot fault it. Raises high enough so that with my 500D on it the view finder is at eye level (I'm 5' 10"). It also goes really low and with the multi-position center column and built in 3 way adjustable head. On the downside it is quite heavy around 2KG making it not the most portable but it is really stable. Check them out at www.giottos.com.
