Morning all,

ok, i've just reformatted the pc with Vista Ultimate x86. And is it me or is this OS faster than HP? Certainly seems it compared to the other pc's i have in the house running HP.
Anyway, I recently sold my E6600 on here, so am now using a E4500 and had the thing running at 3.94GHz, yes 3.94GHz! (see my sig for specs)
Alas after reformatting it didn't hold this speed for very long, so i dropped it right down as the temps were hitting 45°C on idle and 63°C on load.
Seeing as i'm going to get back into gaming on this rig i'd like to tweak/tune it up a little.

Starting with:

1. Case: PC-7, i turned the front case fans off ages ago cos they were noisy as hell. So spec me some replacement fans please, nice and quiet like. :D The same for the rear case fan.

2. I reckon the cpu cooler is ok, but i was in a hurry putting it on, so maybe re-pasting and re-seating would benefit here and bring the temps down (it already has the MX-1 stuff on it).

3. Sapphire HD4870, 512mb: brand new, not even been 'gamed' with yet. Advice on tweaking this would be appreciated, for games like COD4 and Crysis (when i get it). I will be adding a 22" (or possibly 24") tft (from OCUK) to the mix, so hi-res gaming will be the order of the day!

4. The modular psu is already saving space in there and helping airflow.

5. CPU overclocking. Currently got it: 9x 340 (i think), with the ram divider at 2.66. Think i let the bios auto set the voltages. Any further advice on tweaking this?

6. 64-bit Os. How much would i benefit from this if this is primarily a gaming pc?

Thanks for any help offered. I've spent so much time building/installing other pc's for other people, that i've neglected my own :(.

But no longer, time for a dawning, so they say!

Cheers :D
