I'm not entirely sure what I want to be honest but I cna explain my situation and see what people say.

I have an almost 1 year old baby, and so watching TV or playing my games of people dying at night I need to have the volume too low that I can barely hear anything.

I currently just have the standard speakers on my flat screen TV, but would like a better quality system so the baby issue has made me look harder into buying something.

The TV is about 2.5/3 metres away from where we sit. I have a small bit of space under the TV for a sound bar, or under that, I have 2 shelves that could hold a speaker each. The shelves deptth height width etc are about max 40cm each way.

I have a 4m long shelf behind me that runs along the full sofa. This could take speakers, but the shelf is not so deep at about 15cm.

Ideally I guess I'd like 2 speakers up front, 2 behind, though due to the length of the sofa, I guess I'm concerned thst someone sitting at an end, may get a poor distorted sound in that the mainly hear the left side etc.

But I'd also like a way to plug into my headphones with an actual cable, due to the games I play needing instant sound. To do this I'm imagining some sort of hub/control dial that has a spot for an audio cable to plug into and then plug into my headset. To get this to work I would have to run about 20m of cable from my TV, through the ceiling floor boards, and back down again the wall to behind my sofa shelf.

So I guess with this what should I look into?

Maybe pop into a RicherSounds and talk to them about your needs and listen to some of their options.

You can ever take said baby in to get the babies opinion on the matter (cries, it’s a no. Doesn’t cry, it’s a yes).

Personally, I’d get a decent Bluetooth DAC and some good BT headphones as one source and then something like the Acoustic Energy AE300 MK2.

It’s very difficult though as budget and preferences on audio matter so much.

Look at reviews of all speaker and amp and mixer options and see what sounds great and then go into RicherSounds with a list of speakers you want to test.

You could probably pick up something cheap but good on the used market too.
