I'm not entirely sure what I want to be honest but I cna explain my situation and see what people say.

I have an almost 1 year old baby, and so watching TV or playing my games of people dying at night I need to have the volume too low that I can barely hear anything.

I currently just have the standard speakers on my flat screen TV, but would like a better quality system so the baby issue has made me look harder into buying something.

The TV is about 2.5/3 metres away from where we sit. I have a small bit of space under the TV for a sound bar, or under that, I have 2 shelves that could hold a speaker each. The shelves deptth height width etc are about max 40cm each way.

I have a 4m long shelf behind me that runs along the full sofa. This could take speakers, but the shelf is not so deep at about 15cm.

Ideally I guess I'd like 2 speakers up front, 2 behind, though due to the length of the sofa, I guess I'm concerned thst someone sitting at an end, may get a poor distorted sound in that the mainly hear the left side etc.

But I'd also like a way to plug into my headphones with an actual cable, due to the games I play needing instant sound. To do this I'm imagining some sort of hub/control dial that has a spot for an audio cable to plug into and then plug into my headset. To get this to work I would have to run about 20m of cable from my TV, through the ceiling floor boards, and back down again the wall to behind my sofa shelf.

So I guess with this what should I look into?
