I have recently bought myself a Samsung 43" LCD Smart TV for just short of £400 and I have to say that I am very happy with it. I find it great for TV, Movies and Gaming.

My brother decided to get a bigger version of the same TV but he is really unhappy with it. He's a real movie buff and his main issue is the 'Black Crush' effect where dark scenes are not very clear.

He's willing to spend up to a grand for the right TV, so can anyone recommend either an actual TV make/model or what he should be looking for i.e. UHD, OLED, Plasma etc.?

Any help or advice greatly appreciated - thanks.

That is because it is set wrong. Some TVs from the factory has the blacks crushed, some set a bit too high and very few set right. As it all depends on the room lighting.

He's already been through several setup guides and tried to calibrate it. It made it slightly better but not enough!
