As the title suggests im a student so as little money as possible is key (although i'm willing to spend if worth it). Basically looking for a 5.1 speaker system (good bass is key) and an external sound card (no room in my case).

Links and prices would be awesome, cheers,

Alex :)

If you want utter volume for a lower price then the Logitech Z5500s are the way to go. I have a set and I think they are very good value for money... but they are very boomy and very bassy :P.

I presume you've already got the padded walls, plastic furniture securely fixed to the floor, a tyre suspended by a rope from the rafters, a bunch of bananas and the takeaway pizza.;):D

haha yer, drew the short straw with accomodation and already had a shelf collapse on my head in the middle of the night!!

But thanks for the advice, sounds like the Z5500 are the ones to go for :)

1st year or in a house ?

Bass srely isn't the key in halls unless you want a shafting from the wardens and others around you. Or you could be lucky and all be party animals :D

z5500 are awesome 'uni' speakers

sure a 'real' 5.1 setup will be better, but will cost a lot more

z5500 are one of the best buys i've ever done for my pc, really blows the socks off my older creative £100 set
