spec me a upgrade

im after upgrading my athlon 3800x2 to a q6600

ive got a monitor,case,psu and hard drives ect ect

so i just want a cpu (q6600)

a decent solid motherboard (might OC to about 3ghz but no more)

and some decent ram that goes well with the board

last thing i want is to order and then find the ram dont work with the MB i get

budget for the MB about 100quid ish

and whatever for the ram

RAM voltages will need to be set to 2 or 2.1 for the ram to work without problems (unless its faulty).
 
thats more than powerful enough. you could run CF or SLi with that PSU. you may want to check if it has all the right connectors though
 
most p35 MBs will take a q6600 over 3GHz, the gigabyes boards are good, try the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard as an alternative.

i recommended the abit IP35 pro as it is seen as one of the best OCing MBs available
