well i would go for the bottom one, it would offer a longer running time in event of power failure and also has a higher wattage output so less chance of overloading if you did plug more into it. how ever in reality both would prob do what you need.

Go for APC. I've seen a few cheap UPS's blow up, taking connected PSU with it. 1500VA UPS will be sufficient.

oh read up the differences between off-line, on-line and line interactive UPS's. The Smart UPS line are good, around £220 for the 1500VA.

i have a apc now mate a old bp 650si smart one but it is worn out now ;-( i have installed a new battery about 6 months ago but i think the brains of it may be faulty so time to put it on my dads pc as he only using it now & than ha-ha ;-)

i only want to spend about £120 tops so i might go for the belkin one... .

ok if you don't want too much, look at the APC Back-UPS, they're off-line, and cheaper.

Don't buy Belkin UPS. I'd rather have none at all.

800VA Backup UPS is £130. You need to check if 800VA is enough. 1000VA is £178. edit found 1500VA backups for £124.88 Inc. VAT :)

yup. 1500VA will be plenty. Go to PSU calculator site and work out base unit. Then add your monitor. Convert watts into VA, then you've got the amount needed. Getting a higher VA UPS means longer run times. You don't want to be above or just under the maximum output as run times will be quite low (the APC site shows runtime depending on usage to each model/VA rating)

For a gaming rig look at 800VA+. Add another couple hundred extra VA if using a large monitor.

I'll be getting a smart ups 750va for the HTPC, and a 1500VA for the gaming rig.

thank you mate ;-)

i will get this one as it has a small foot print too what is mint as i can put it on the floor next to my desk.... .

cheers again
