Looking for one of these will pay up to about £50 will i get anything decent for that seen a few on some online retailers but not sure what to get and i was wondering if i live in a good reception area will it be ok on the latop?

The supplied twiggy bit of tin is usually rubbish, but if you can supply the dongle feed from a house aerial of decent quality then you should get a fab picture.

The supplied software is a bit eccentric (in the case of Freecom) but you can download the Yakumo BDA drivers and use any MCE software.

I've just got a new laptop and am thinking of doing the same :) not really sure which one to get atm tho :( most of them seem to have the same/similar features, not seen one with rca input tho :( guess I'd have to buy a seperate video capture device for that

Also someone offered me a windows media remote control without the ir dongle, does anyone know if you could pair it up with one of these usb freeview dongles to replace the mini ones that you get? I think you can use them as a sort of universal remote so it should be possible?

I was just reading up on the "Leadtek Winfast DTV-Dongle Digital TV USB2.0 Tuner (GX-074-LT)" and it sounds like it comes with BDA drivers and so should be ok with media centre etc, also seems to come with some software of its own.
