spec me a vacuum cleaner that's good with pet hair

I'm looking around for a new vacuum cleaner since ours is getting a bit long in the tooth. I'd like a bag less one that's good at getting pet hair out of carpets with quite a deep pile, no hard and fast budget but nothing crazy.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Dyson animal works for me. Can get good refurbs now quite cheap on amazon and ebay.

I was looking at one of these using the trade in scheme they've got which knocks a brand new one down to about £275

You could also just shave your pet and cloth them?
Although not so recommended.

I've put this idea forward many times, house mates say I'm not allowed
