Due to being so damn use to my old imac's keyboard, I've grown quite partial to the feel of it when typing on it etc. I'd like to know if I can get something of similar quality which has backlit keys if possible.

Not bothered about macro keys or mini LCDs etc and budget is flexible, depending on the benefits.

I did have a G11 keyboard but the keys where huge on it and although it was a decent piece of kit, didn't like the feel of it at all. Currently using a very cheap keyboard which isn't that great for games, hence the need for an upgrade!

Prefer black btw due to using a logitech MX500 series mouse.

How about the Logitech illuminated keyboard, nice board, backlit and very flat.

Alternatively the apple wired keyboard works great in windows. It isn't backlit, but it is great for typing on (as you probably already know) and does fine with games too.

I think you just hit the nail on the head in the first try lol. Gonna have a look at some reviews of it tomorrow. The one and only thing that puts me off the apple keyboard for windows use is having the command button which I'm guessing does sod all in windows? Backlighting is also abit of an issue but not a massive one. That logitech keyboard looks rather good though and the warrantys on their equipment are also superb.

The Apple Keyboard installation was easier and smoother than I thought. Upon unboxing the new keyboard, I found no CD or software to install. I simply plugged in the USB cable into my Windows PC USB port and started it up.

The keyboard started working instantly at startup and continued to work just fine. Some keys changed though like the Command key functioned as the Windows Key. The function keys worked just as usual like F5 for refresh, F11 for full screen etc. Of course on Mac they had some more great functions to perform and could be easily customized.

Non working keys – some keys did not work since they had no function assigned to perform. Extra function keys from F13-F19 were of no use right now. The Eject key used to eject DVD on Mac also served no purpose now.

Missing keys - I really missed the popular 3 keys on the top right corner – Print Screen, Scroll Lock and Pause Break. Also can’t find the Num Lock. Of these I used the Print Screen the maximum to take quick screenshots, but as an alternative I continue to use Snagit or Pearl Crescent Page Saver Firefox extension for this purpose.

New keys I found and really liked was that the numeric pad had a clear key and an equal key which was very useful.

On one USB port I quickly connected my mouse and on the other I fixed a 8GB USB flash drive. Super.

So the Command key becomes the Windows key.

I have this, brilliant keyboard and not too big either.

Keys feel great to type with and it has very good build quality.

I have the L.I.K. as well. Really nice keyboard, but expensive.

I like the Logitech flat keyboards in general. For a cheap replacement, I have a Ultra X for work, really nice typing for a tenner (if you shop around).

You can check out all sorts of flat keyboards in your local purple store, they do have a lot them, seems that the fashion of the day is 'laptop feel' versus the old rubber dome tech, but I'm not complaining.

No idea about the Apple, although I like them for typing, never tried under Windows.

+1, I have this keyboard and I think it's fantastic... it looks great (nice and sleek), nice to type on, great build quality and we all know about Logitech's fantastic warranty/RMA process. :D

Only downside to it is it's a little pricey for a keyboard, but if you're willing to spend that little bit extra then you won't be disappointed. ;)

Received a "Xenta mac style keyboard" yesterday with a free mouse for very cheap. They're pretty much identical to mac keyboards in both looks and build quality, only difference being they're black rather than silver and white. Might interest you if you like the feel of mac keyboards.

I've read about a spacebar problem which can appear on these keyboards so can I ask if you've experience any problems with the spacebar on yours?

Might do that at the weekend to see what my money can get me, good advice thanks.

The money isn't really an issue but I do want something thats worthy of a decent price tag if its pricey lol. The RMA and warranty on the logitech stuff is what draws me to them at the moment as I've heard their customer service is fantastic.

No real problems with the space bar on my end. It doesn't feel as tight as the other keys (noticed because people asked tbh), but it's working as fine as the first day after two years.

For gaming, it's pretty good as well. It doesn't have anti-key ghosting capabilities like the X4 and whatnot, but has a gaming matrix for WASD controls, so no interferences between keys on the left of the keyboard.

The feel is like a 'firmer' laptop keyboard. Really quiet too.

The only issue I have with the LIK is the flatness of the keyboard even when with the feet raised, and how dirty it got after two years :) I need to clean it up.

If it need replacing, I will also consider a mechanical keyboard replacement like the Qpad MK-80 (XArmor U9L rebrand). Mechanical Cherry MX Blue and backlit, but £100 (ouch!).

I haven't had any problems with the spacebar on mine mate. If you did happen to have any problems with it (unlikely IMO) then you're covered under Logitech's warranty, so shouldn't be much of a pain to get it replaced. :)
