Hi

We need a new one.

Our existing Bosch one is about to give up. It's 15 years old, i've replaced the motor brushes twice and the rubber. She's had a great innings but time's up.

We're a family of 4.

Budget isn't an issue if I can see value in spending what's needed.

Historically all of our white goods are Siemens / Neff / Bosch. I like and trust those brands but would look at others.

I'm going to assume they offer "smart" machines now. That's not a requirement but it's something I would look at.

Thank you.

Go :)

Ok, here we go :)

Bosch have a cashback offer on. This machine gets £150 cashback via a prepaid mastercard or justeat vouchers. Having never used justeat and probably never will I'll go for the mastercard.

John Lewis (i hope OC dont sell white goods!) have it in stock for £699 making it £549.

So, shall I buy that? what else am I missing on that machine that another might offer?

Thanks

We’ve got an LG direct drive, we can’t fault it. If you search “LG Direct Drive reviews” and take note of the customers reviews they’re pretty impressive on all the major retailers, AO, JL, Curry’s. Our current machine is around 10 years old, we’d definitely buy another when the time comes.

2x LG Steam/DirectDrives here over 9 years so already miles off your Bosch.

Sorry. You've got 2 of them and have had for 9 years. Cool. What's the miles off my Bosch? :)
Two appliances in a 9 year time frame (but still counting). 1 Bosch over 15 years already wipes the floor with my track record! Bad English on my part.

That said I would still recommend them. Not sure you can reasonably expect more than 5 years on a modern appliance.

Ahh. Ok. Thank you. The LG and Bosch appear to have 10 year warranty. A grand on a washing machine that last 5 years won't wash (ha!) with me.
On my LGs the 10 year was only on the DirectDrive. It wasn't a full appliance warranty.

Oh hah well yeah I've got the addwash washer dryer, the addwash is actually pretty useful and there's only 2 of us, I suspect if you have kids you'll be forever finding the odd sock.

And what else can I say? Stuff comes out clean and when I want it dry, dry. Drum is big (9kg I think), it can go surprisingly fast.. like a normal colour 30c wash is done in about an hour.

The major plus is it sings a really long stupid song when it's finished lol (I'm sure you can turn it off) also if you have any other samsung stuff like recent TVs or phones you can hook it all up to smartthings and get a notification when it's done which again is handy if you're trying to get something out to dry like bedding and want to know when it's finished.

We've had a Bosch Serie 4 8KG for the last couple of months and cant fault it, it makes our old Hotpoint sound like a helicopter in comparison (granted it was 14 years old!).

From the research we did it seems the popular brands go:

Miele > LG/Bosch > Samsung > Beko >>> Hotpoint/Indesit/Zanussi etc.

I was tempted to go down the smart device route and had my eye on an LG but the actual 'smart' features are limited, at the end of the day it's a washing machine and there's not much it'll benefit from. A notification when it's done is handy but my Bosch has a good loud chime when it's done that's impossible to miss.
