Spec me a water cooling set up!

Ignore the stupid post above. It would be helpful if you could give us a little bit more information. I see you have a q6600 and gtx280.

What's your budget?

What case do you have?
 
i have a thermaltake shark as a case.

i dont want to spend to much. upto £100 maybe? tbh ive got no idea whats any good so i can build my budget to what is required tbh. atm id prefer to put my cpu under water and leave the gpu as it is for the time being.

If your budget is under £100, then cooling the GTX280 is out of the question as a FC waterblock for that is circa £60

You could use a OCZ hydraflow waterblock, which is about £27, which leaves about £63 for the pump, res and radiator, you could combine a Swiftech MCR220-QP radiator (£29) with the XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir Pump (£35), which is near ish to £100, but you'd still need tubing and fans.

It is doable, but it won't be the best performing setup you could buy. Perhaps look at getting some 2nd hand bits, think I saw a Dtek Fuzion Mk1 for about £17 on the MM

I'm not sure where you'd mount a radiator in the shark either, in the front perhaps? But going off pictures from google, it may be a little difficult.
 
what about a external radiator. like the reserator? ive heard they are a bit pants.

by the sound of it 100 is to little. what sort of money are we talking for a half decent setup?

does the cpu block have a backplate? im currently using a sythe ninja and im not impressed by the temps at all. i really think it could do with a backplate pulling the heatsink on more. hence why im considering water cooling

It probably will - esp if you want to do both the GTX280 and the Q6600. Also, it's probably easiest if you select a decent case and work backwards from there.

As Hefner suggested, use the MM. There are some excellent custom cases that come up every now and again and they are often sold super cheep.

Most of us really look after our stuff and you will definitely get a decent deal on the MM. I paid full wack for everything in my CPU loop but my GPU loop (except for one of the full covers) is completely second hand and runs really well.

Apologies if the above doesn't make any sense. I'm on my way back to NZ (from the UK) and havn't slept in two days.
