Spec me a whiskey

ardbeg 10 , is a great whiskie , ive tryed a few since and nothing comes close.

Ive read it is a little hard to get hold of now though, there is the next up called Ardbeg Uigeadail which is about £50 which ive heard very good things.

Ardbeg 10 is indeed very good. I prefer the Uigeadail though.

The 10 is available in Sainsburys. Uigeadail can be had from almost any decent specialist whisky shop or online from Ardbeg's website.

And Jack Daniels? S'alright I suppose. I sometimes get it in pubs to remind myself why I drink single malts... Best use of it is for preparing barrels for ageing Glenmorangie though (Glenmorangie loan their barrels to JD and then have them shipped over to Scotland for the new make spirit to become whisky in).

i have'nt seen it my sainsburys for ages now:( , i must get myself some uigeadail soon , if it is anything like 10 it is £50 well spent , i also loved the fact that ardbeg has a cork , just love the sound of pulling out a cork.

i just got myself some Wild Turkey 101 proof bourbon , got a mixed review but it seems worth a try , i have maybe a silly question but when drinking bourbon i like it normally straight or with a few ice cubes , should ice go in the glass first, or after the boubon if it makes any difference????

cheers

Uigedail, still has the peaty, smoky element that the 10 has. It's a thicker liquid and sweeter though, cask strength and finished in sherry casks so I find that flavour is quite striking if you're used to other Ardbegs (which generally aren't sherried),

after spending near 4/5 days on Islay i have developed a strong taste for the whisky from
Bruichladdich Distillery any of them are good

i have just got a bottle of The Organic 2010

and plan to get the X4+3 and The Seventeen - Rum for xmas

also look at any of the whisky from jura all of the are again great whisky

if you looking for whiskey try some of the single malts from cooley whiskey the connemara is a fine irish whiskey

also look at the red breast whiskey

if you do want something from the bushmills try the bushmills 16year old

i recently purchased Yamazaki for my brother in law, to try something different. we were both blown away by it and he drinks a lot of whiskey. i found it in tesco of all places, which worked out loads cheaper than paying postage on top.

ive had the 18 year old of this and it was mighty impressive

Speyside would be my choice of region and Glenfarclas would be the brand

Hmm, a Glenfarclas fan eh? I got a bottle of the 15 year old earlier this year. I really enjoyed it , but it was very very sweet, almost like drinking port.

Think it cost about £45 from the whisky shop in York. For my next expensive bottle I'm thinking of getting a Glenfiddich 21 year old or a Laphroiag for round about the same price, but will have to try a couple more different Laphroig's before I fork out £50+ on one of theirs :p

I do, but only Gentleman Jack, Single Barrel and Single Barrel silver select. Normal Jack is OK as a mixer, the rest are nice neat. :)

Awaits flaming. :D

Seen a Single Barrel and a Gentleman Jack in our Local Tesco's. Tempted to give the Gentleman Jack a go, if that's nice maybe the Single Barrel.

They are two different drinks so you may like one more than the other, Gentleman is supposed to be a new recipe and it does taste different to normal Jack, whereas the Single barrel is a nicer more potent version of the original.

The 18 year old Glendfiddich is much nicer. It's a really nice whisky.

Perhaps the raging alcoholics can help me out here. My brother's a big fan of Jameson's, but it seems abit unimaginative just to buy him a bottle for Christmas. Are there any other Irish whiskeys OCUK would recommend?

Cheers.

I've not actually tasted it but it's had some stunning ratings recently.

I like Connemara from Cooley distillery but it's very different from most Irish whiskey - more akin to something from Scotland.
