ardbeg 10 , is a great whiskie , ive tryed a few since and nothing comes close.
Ive read it is a little hard to get hold of now though, there is the next up called Ardbeg Uigeadail which is about £50 which ive heard very good things.

Ardbeg 10 is indeed very good. I prefer the Uigeadail though.
The 10 is available in Sainsburys. Uigeadail can be had from almost any decent specialist whisky shop or online from Ardbeg's website.
And Jack Daniels? S'alright I suppose. I sometimes get it in pubs to remind myself why I drink single malts... Best use of it is for preparing barrels for ageing Glenmorangie though (Glenmorangie loan their barrels to JD and then have them shipped over to Scotland for the new make spirit to become whisky in).
, i must get myself some uigeadail soon , if it is anything like 10 it is £50 well spent , i also loved the fact that ardbeg has a cork , just love the sound of pulling out a cork.First of all, anyone suggesting blends, no matter how good, should leave the thread as they clearly don't understand whisky.

I am guessing no-one hear drinks Jack Daniels?
i recently purchased Yamazaki for my brother in law, to try something different. we were both blown away by it and he drinks a lot of whiskey. i found it in tesco of all places, which worked out loads cheaper than paying postage on top.

Speyside would be my choice of region and Glenfarclas would be the brand

I do, but only Gentleman Jack, Single Barrel and Single Barrel silver select. Normal Jack is OK as a mixer, the rest are nice neat.
Awaits flaming.![]()
Seen a Single Barrel and a Gentleman Jack in our Local Tesco's. Tempted to give the Gentleman Jack a go, if that's nice maybe the Single Barrel.
Think it cost about £45 from the whisky shop in York. For my next expensive bottle I'm thinking of getting a Glenfiddich 21 year old or a Laphroiag for round about the same price, but will have to try a couple more different Laphroig's before I fork out £50+ on one of theirs![]()
Perhaps the raging alcoholics can help me out here. My brother's a big fan of Jameson's, but it seems abit unimaginative just to buy him a bottle for Christmas. Are there any other Irish whiskeys OCUK would recommend?
Cheers.
