Hi All,

I know nothing about Whisky but someone from work is leaving and does enjoy a quality whisky and I was just wondering what would be a suitable bottle to buy and from where.

Price will probably be between the £50 - £100 mark. Is the whiskyshop.com the best place to pick it up from or is there somewhere better?

Thanks in advance.

Whisky isn't always the easiest thing to buy as a gift if you don't know their taste. For example quite a few whisky drinkers won't like Peaty whisky which will limit what you can buy. Any idea of any brande he currently drinks?

unfortunately I don't. I've only ever seen him drink the usual stuff available in pubs but I think he enjoys the usual sort of bottles like bells, johnnie walker black label, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie etc.

I know these probably have different taste profiles but I was hoping to find something that would be pleasing to most people.

I've drank a few Tomintoul's, but haven't had the 21. Every single one that I've drank was pretty good though. Typically Speyside, but with extra taste and more dimension. I wouldn't buy it nowadays, but that's because I'm more of an Islay/Lowlands fan but I imagine it would go down well.

I'd consider it a good, solid, whisky that anyone would enjoy. A safe bet for sure but I'd be more than happy to receive a bottle of this.

I'm missing where it says it includes a hipflask? I wouldn't buy him one of them as well, just get the bottle.

Well it says just above the price. I have contemplated a number of different bottles and time is against me in terms of ordering so I have ordered the Tomintoul.

Without knowing exact tastes I wanted to make sure I get something he will enjoy. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It gives me some thoughts for what to get my dad at Christmas.

Ah, didn't notice that. I doubt they've bumped up the price to accommodate the hipflask. I've used thewhiskyexchange before and they seem pretty good on price and service.

I'm sure he'll appreciate it and enjoy it.
