Spec me a wind/shower proof hoodie please?

I'm currently wearing a Canterbury hoodie with a DWR coating and it's been great, but it's now almost lost its water repellency, and they seem to have stopped making the same one I've got.

I just want something I can throw on to walk the dog and not worry about getting soaked through if I get caught in a shower.

Possibly the wrong forum, but any recommendations please?

How much are you willing to spend?

UF Pro make some very nice kit, but very expensive.
Pentagon too, but less expensive. Same for 5.11.
Helikon-Tex aren't bad and notably cheaper, but their sizing is sometimes a touch off.

Personally, I'd look at renewing the DWR, though, maybe with some Nikwax or similar. That's likely the cheapest option all round...

Any idea how good Pentagon actually are in a shower? they make some nice stuff - I have a few of their hoodies (Leonidas 2.0) - but I've never actually used them in wet weather yet and don't get the feeling they'd last long.

Helikon stuff tends to be a bit more wet/cold weather designed but only to an extent unless you actually go for one of the jackets.

UA Storm will stand up to a decent amount of wet weather but the water repellent doesn't seem to last forever (couple of years or so on mine).

About the same as any other DWR - It's water-resistant, not waterproof.
I usually wear the Artaxes softshell jacket, which works great in a shower or short downpour... but it does have loads of venting and zippered pockets, which is where the wet always gets in.
The hood on it is fantastic, though.

I do like (and have) a fair bit of Helikon kit, but they lack the fancy airflow/cooling to the same levels as the more expensive kit, meaning you overheat more easily if you're doing any kind of active work. Unless it's near-freezing outside, I can even overheat in my Artaxes just from walking the dogs for an hour.
But then, you'll overheat something chronic in fully waterproof kit anyway, so it's always a tradeoff.

I'm not personally a fan of UA, as it's a bit too sporty for my tastes... but again, water-resistant, not proof.
You are supposed to periodically renew the repellency on these things. Same with most motorcycle kit.

I've found UA the best for maintaining a comfortable temperature throughout a range of environments - but they aren't as cosy if it is actually proper cold. I find it a brand that I very much have to dip into both in terms of tastes and that they make some great stuff but also some stuff that is pure style over substance, etc.
