we currently have a blue ice one but when the ambient temp gets warm it is only managing to cool to around 10 degrees. This is the second one of these we have had,

I want one that can hold 4 degrees in a centrally heated kitchen so room temp maxing about 26 deg I reckon. Mailny to hold thw wife's white wine and champagne but also to keep her medicine in hence the need for better temp contol.

Was looking at the samsung one around £275 as top of my budget - does anyone have this one>

Get a pub one, we have one made by Apollo, a bit more than you wanted to spend but very good.

10 C is ideal for white wine, 4 C is far too cold.

Liebherr fridges are about as good as you can get and you can get ones with zonal temperature controls so you can store different wines at different temperatures (short term storage obviously)

Edit - nevermind they are way over budget.

8 Bottle Wine Chiller going for £35 (half price) at the place with the Laminated Book of Dreams

No glass front / racks etc.

Glass front is just pointless, doesn't do the insulation any good and what need is there to look at the things they are just bottles.

Most modern frideges come with a wine rack shelf and it is easy enough to add more cheaply to replace the existing glass shelves.

So this suggestion is perfectly valid if the OP wants a cheap solution to storing wine at at too colder temperature, I'd be happy with the 10 degrees he's already getting as thats about spot on for wine.

From a thermal point of view perhaps but for display reasons then no.

You seem to be forgetting that wine fridge’s are as much of a display feature as they are part of the integral design in many a modern kitchen.

I wouldn't be happy with a big ugly white fridge in space of my wine fridge.

Who said big ugly and white, go integrated nobody will know it's there and your wine will be lovelly and cool plus you can throw a few can's in the bottom for when the lads are round for a curry or the footy without filling up the food fridge. Glass doors reduce thermal efficiency and up your elecy bill, one mans design feature is another mans pointless consumerist showing off allthough I'll give you that the marketing is brilliant.

You don't need to see the wine, you don't need anyone else to see it, I don't get it! Most people who actually have wine that would be worth showing off keep it in musty old cellars which seems much more appropriate to me!

Different strokes for different fokes, i fail to see the issue, i want to have a wine fridge, i also want to make a feature out of the fridge which can be backlit and such, who cares about another £1 per month in electricity.

So with this in mind you must think the same about wine racks then.....

I like a nice bit of glass i must say, and im noted for my good taste :D

thanks fellas. You all make decent points but I think I failed to emphasise in the original post - it's something the wife wants. So glass front all the way.

I've ordered the Samsung RW33EBSS1 after a chat with a guy in the shop. This model is based an a proper compressor rather than the fan system in our current one.

Will report back with a mini review anyway incase anyone else is considering one.
