Goddammit!
I'm fed up of buying wireless desksets that work for a while then either the mouse or keyboard starts throwing hissy fits (a little like me right now) and just stops working for about a few secs at a time every farts end.
I've tried about 3 different sets now, and they all boast of having 4 channels that auto change so you don't clash with other RF devices.
So why in the blue hell do mine always freeze on far too regular a basis.
Oddly the one i'm using now, which has been the cheapest of the lot has actually perfomed the best.
But this morning i had my fill of the keyboard freezing up so i belted it. Now its in bits
The mouse on this deskset has actually been fine.
Wireless is required due to the limitations and clutter of my desk.

Am i likely to fair better with a bluetooth deskset?

Please give me your recommendations, will consider prices up to £80 for a deskset.

To be totally honest, you won't find a wireless set that will be nearly as good as a wired set. Personally I think that wireless in general is pretty much flawed for anything like gaming or any work that requires precision and response time.

However I'm sure that you can find some sets which will be decent, price will also be "decent"...

Thanks fellas,
its just office work and when they work there is no problem. Its just that on occasion it will decide to go nuts where it will freeze every few mins for a few seconds at a time with no real explanation.
I sit near the kitchen and in the past i've checked to see if someone is using the microwave to see if that's causing the issue.....but don't think it is.
The wireless mouse is a must-have due to clutter. The keyboard, i guess i could make do with a wired one.
However the boss has now asked for a replacement deskset to his brand new all-in-one Samsung multi-touch screen pc, which has a wireless set that imitates apples keyboard design......but he doesn't like it. He definitely needs a nice wireless set.

holy mo i've had issues with wireless desk sets in my time and right now i have to admit the only successful set i have had was a logitech mx3100 i believe? cant be sure on the model name. i am still using the wireless rechargable laser mouse that was part of this package but unfortunately the keyboard was damaged when a family member decided to spill beer into it! argghhhhhh!

best set i have had by far though, battery in keyboard lasted ages and they keybaord was excellent quality. the mouse has been brill and very very rarely is flat unless i forget to put it in the charge dock for days at a time. even then it doesnt take long to charge. previous battery mice i were getting through new batteries what seems every week.

i dont think they do the desk set i purchased now as this was around 4 or 5 years ago, but i got the set for around £60 in a sale then. i'd say for similar set you would be looking around £90 these days. seems steep but given time and then you can see its value and quality.

i had exact same issues with you previously with belkin, trust and all sorts. why i dont know, was it batterys or rf frequency blips, dunno?

I've tried a few wireless desk sets too and Logitech are the only brand I am impressed with. I'm still extremely happy with my Logitech Pro 2800 that I got last year, it just works flawlessly. Paid about £40 for it if I remember correctly.

Stay away from the Microsoft Laser Desktop 6000 Series... including the revisions. I've had bad experiences with those. The failure rate is abysmal.

I've tried Microsoft (can't remember the model) and found it to be one of the worst I have tried, let my Mrs take it to a car boot sale and flog it for £15 it was that bad (I just feel sorry for the guy she flogged it to).

Using Microsoft wireless laser mouse 5000 for nearly 4 years now, not a single issue. Vista ultimate 32bit and Windows7 home premium 64bit.

I'm currently using this (have been for the past 6 months), the version with the aero keyboard. No issues whatsoever!!

stay away from microsoft, LOGITECH all the way

ive had LOTS of their peripherals and if ive ever had a problem, phone them up and they've sent me replacement items on next day delivery - fantastic service!

Haven't we gone past the point where there is almost no difference between wired and wireless now? I mean I use wireless head phones for my big screen TV and they work a treat, I use a wireless Keyboard and mouse and have no problems, extremely responsive, and I also use wireless 360 controller for my PC to play some of my games and I don't notice a single problem.

If wireless was such a flawed design, Microsoft and sony wouldn't of opted for the wireess way I don't think, I like the idea of no wires personally : )

lol I am waiting for the day where I can get a wireless graphics cards, motherboard, psus, I would be happy with that : P
