Hi

Our netgear router is dying a harsh death atm, so I need to replace this. Is there wireless/wired router that is fast, and will provide networked storage (whether add on or bought) woiuld prefer very fast and reliable wireless as well, including works with PS3's and blackberrys.

Forgot to add, we stream a lot of media (HD media) to the playstations, so must be capable of this, the Netgear seemed a bit useless for this

Thanks

Hi there.

I guess if streaming HD content a Wireless N model Router will be needed, I was going to recommend the one I have as it has very very powerful Wireless Range, but it is only 54Mbps. So not ideal in your case.

From what I've read, don't go for a Router with built in antenna as they suffer badly when you move away. So external aerials = win. :)

Maybes something like the D-Link DIR-635. Or perhaps the Billion 7300n Router.

The D-Link model has a USB2.0 socket, so I think this means you can attach external storage, but I'm not sure on that. Maybes see if Google have any reviews of these two to help you start. :)

Cheers will have a look at them :) Also had a look at the Draytek range, are these any good, and would i see any difference as the Draytek has a higher price tag. Are there any new routers worth waiting for in the next couple of months? As the router scene seems very slow.

I've not had any experience with Draytek sadly so I'm not sure how good they are. One thing I have learnt is that more expensive doesn't mean it'll perform better. You usually find they are more expensive because they have more features, perhaps more focused for SOHO use, but not because they give better speeds, etc etc.

I have had bad experiences with netgear, and most places i look say buy one of them. Seems the cable router market has a lot more going for it.
