Spec me a zoom for a 400d

Off to the spanish hills at easter and currently I am without a zoom lens. Ideally I want to pick one up before I go to avoid missing any shots not covered by the 10-22 / kit lens.

Ideally I want to keep the price ~350 or below (if possible) so what would you guys go for?

i second that canon 70-300mm IS USM lens it can be had for your budget

70-300 IS is something I have looked at but also seen the 70-200L F4 for 350. Is the L a big improvement? and worth the reduction in length?
