evening folks
I was looking at making or getting a new gaming rig. I would like all main components to be white
I have a £6000 budget - which means (hopefully lol) at the time of writing this topic one of the best ones available

I am a bit up in the air about the case, again a white case but with a good view inside
White would be the main theme: PSU, Graphics card, cables, Fans, AIO CPU cooler and RAM, etc...

This would be for 4K/8K gaming
Also for video and image editing too
Intel/Nvidia is what I am thinking

I am not really looking for water-cooled as I don't have enough knowledge and experience with them
Any info advice and build suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

You’d be best holding fire for a little while if you can.

Not a great time to buy a high end gaming PC with the next generation graphics cards just around the corner and the 9800X3D due to launch very soon.

The 7800X3D has basically been (arguably) the best gaming CPU for the last couple of years but probably not the fastest in productivity and Intel have had issues with their 13th and 14th generation cpus failing early. 7950X3D / 9950X might be a good shout

I'm liking that the suggested main board , asrock x870 has a pcie5.0 socket, because i'm sure that you will be upgrading to a white 5090 at some point, it is rumoured that the 5090 will be pcie 5.0

maybe consider spending the change on a decent oled high refresh rate screen to enjoy all that graphics candy, but maybe you have that in mind already?
My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,198.99 (includes delivery: £0.00)

there are other brands that you could go for, for the oled screen

I'm not normally the guy that says wait... but the 9000X3d chips are close. and although the 4090 is a monster the 5000 cards are out soon.
in this case, spending £5000 for 4k id wait

if you must buy now the 7800x3d would still be the better gaming CPU?

I would wait for the top of the range 5090 cards when Overclockers have them in stock.

If you make a 4090 system now it will not be the best for very long.

Your choice but i would advise against it at this time.

That wasn't a rhetorical question, I'm out of the loop and was wondering if this was expected this year
the 5090 is said to be on sale in January 2025 and the new x3d chips are expected this year.

if you cant wait buy the 7800x3d not the 9950.
the big thing for me would be laying £2k into a GPU thats going to be replaced in the next few months

No it isn’t, at all.
It’s his money not yours, stick to collecting bass port bungs.

And? What doesn’t?

Again, his choice not yours.

As someone who has spent thousands of a PC, which I regret, I'd say spend a sensible amount of money on a good system but don't go insane on it. What's the point of getting 256GB of RAM , for example in gaming?

£5000 is OTT.

Make people say 5 grand is OTT for a car, yet others will happily spend 6 times that for a used Mondeo.

Each to their own.
